X-4

The X-4 was first flown by Northrop on December 16 1948. Problems with stability at high Mach numbers left the Airforce unhappy with the design. Although the AirForce didnt find the X-4 suitable for their needs, the test pilots liked the aircraft. Chuck Yeager was one of those who flew the X-4.

I have always liked the design. The wing profile, large tail and bubble canopy make for a very unique shape in the sky.

I kitted this model several years ago and now plans are once again available. My model is powered with the Cox T.D. .051 and a 4X4 pusher prop. This is a very quick model and is not intended for beginner flyers. If you want to build one go ahead, hang it on the wall. Get some stick time on some fairly quick models then take your X-4 off the wall and have a blast. If you've comfortably flown some quick aileron controlled models, you'll have no problems with the X-4.

Plans are drawn in Cad with all details neccesary to complete the model.

Plans cost $18.00 which includes shipping and postage. No hidden costs whatsoever! You can use the PayPal link below or send a cheque or money order.
