F-18 HORNET

The F-18 has always been one of my favorite modern jet fighters. The power and brute force of this fighter is very impressive. Equally impressive is the wonderful color schemes the Canadian airforce has applied to their airshow demonstrators. This model has been designed for great performance. This is not a beginners model and is a very high performance aircraft. It is also not to be handlaunched . For safety sake this model must be catapulted into the sky. The propeller at the rear is too dangerous for handlaunching. That being said, do not let catapults scare you off. The power of the launch gives you instant airspeed and has always worked 100% to get my models in the air. Besides that, catapult launch's are impressive in their own right. Spectators expect the worst, but you and I know it works everytime.

This model is constructed entirely from balsa and plywood. The wing is shaped from a plank of balsa like my Whisper/Growler pylon racer. Not hard to do and not one rib has to be made ;) The F-18 is powered with the Mega 16/15/3 and 8, 9 or 10 cp1300 scr nicads. Batteries such a kan 1100 and lipo's will be too light to properly balance the Hornet. Controls use tailerons to provide both roll and pitch so a computer radio with mixing capabilities is required. Wingspan is 24.4 inch's and wingarea is 170 square inch. Fuselage length is 29.25 inch.

Here is a video of the F-18 in flight.

Plans are cad drawn and show all details necessary to construct the model.
